~Sewing Fool~

Is what hubby called me this weekend. I spent most of my time at the sewing machine. Take in mind, I'm not very good at sewing. I had to rip some seams out and redid them a few times. Then I realized I am making primitives. They don't have to be perfect. So here is what I have started. I'm planning on finishing everything tomorrow. I'm trying my hand at sunflowers, crows, funky watermelon slices, funky flowers,3d eggs, and a pin cushion. I'll post them when I finish tomorrow.

~Sundays Supper Surprise~

It was my hubby's Sunday to choose supper. He chose a German dish called Jagerschnitzel. It's made with pork, which was so tender that you could cut it with a fork. The gravy wasn't real heavy or greasy. It had a pleasing taste. It was recommended to serve it with french fries and a salad but we skipped the salad today.
I rarely eat pork. Maybe 3 to 4 times a year. I would recommend trying this meal. If you decide to try it. I hope you enjoy it. Please don't mind the fine china......lol

Jagerschnitzel

Jagerschnitzel

Ingredients:

1-1/2 cups bread crumbs
1 tablespoon and 1-1/2 teaspoons all-purpose flour
salt and pepper to taste
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
6 pork steaks or cutlets, pounded thin
2  egg, beaten
1-1/2 medium onion, diced
1-1/2 (8 ounce) cans sliced mushrooms
2-1/4 cups water
1-1/2 cubes beef bouillon
1 tablespoon
1-1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
3/4 cup sour cream

Directions:

1.In a shallow dish, mix together the bread crumbs and flour. Season with salt and pepper. Place the egg in a separate dish. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Dip pork steaks in egg, then coat with the bread crumb mixture. Fry in the hot oil until browned on both sides and cooked through, about 5 minutes per side.

2. Remove the pork to a platter and keep warm. Add onion and mushrooms to the skillet and cook until lightly browned. Pour in water and dissolve the bouillon cube. Simmer for about 20 minutes. Stir together the cornstarch and sour cream; stir into the skillet. Cook over low heat until thickened but do not boil. Spoon over the pork cutlets and serve immediately.

~Prim Carrots~

I tried my hand at making prim carrots. I'm not all that great at sewing. I have made curtains, throw pillows and cat toys before but of course every one knows their not that hard to make. Just sew a straight line on each side and that's pretty much it. Like Patti over at Raspberry Lane Primitive said" They are insanely easy to make even for a beginner....one line sewn in the carrot "v" shape and then hot glue the rest of the way...super duper easy...you should give it a try." So I gave it a try. I was going to use Sweet Annie for my tops but I was afraid of my cats chewing on them. So I went with fabric tops instead. This is what I made.

~Simple Trash to Treasure~

I went to the Salvation Army a week ago and I found these cute pictures. They were only $3.00 for the set. Not too bad of a price for a 2 cute pictures. I wasn't crazy about the gold frames but I over looked it. After a couple of days, I decided to paint the frames black. Since I have a lot of black around the house. They'll fit in perfect. What do you think?

First Day of Spring

The weather wasn't all that bad for the first day of spring. At least it wasn't raining. It was nice enough that we had 2 turkeys visit us today. Usually we have about 5 to 10 turkeys a visit but today was just 2. They hung around and checked out the yard. Then after about 30 minutes, they disappeared into the woods. I wish I would of gotten a picture of the male turkey last week showing off his tail feathers and his blue head. He was strutting his stuff around all the females. I have to admit. I have never seen that before.

~Sundays Supper Surprise~

This Sunday supper was a repeat of last Sunday supper. I enjoyed it so much that I choose to have it again this Sunday. We had chicken lo mein again but we also had shrimp lo mein. Best thing about this meal is that it so healthy for you. We used only fresh vegetables. We used olive oil instead of vegetable oil. When you get lo mein at restaurant, It tends to be a heavy and a little greasy. Its because they are using vegetable oil. Olive oil makes it not so heavy and greasy tasting.  Here is the recipes again, I hope you give it a try. You wont be disappointed.

        Patti

Home and Garden Show

Doug and I attended the 17th Annual Home and Garden Show at our local community college on Saturday. It wasn't too bad of a show. A lot of beautiful and expensive things. Just about everything thing you could imagine. I wish I could say I had a good time, but I really didn't. It was over crowd and the people were so rude. I couldn't turn around without someone bumping into me or running into me with a wheelchair. I didn't even get one excuse me or I'm sorry. Some booths were small and over crowded with stuff that you could hardly move around. Doug and I couldn't go in a booth together because of being over crowded. I did manage to find a  few things that I liked. Doug tried to take some pictures of all the beautiful floral arrangements they had on display but people would walk right in front of you and stand. We would  say excuse me but they just ignore you. Why do people have to be so rude???  I have been going to this show for the past few years and it has never been this bad.
Here are a few pictures of the floral arrangements made by some of the local florist. They really out did their selves.

Here are some pictures of my findings for the day. I found a concrete bird in a nest, concrete bunny wall plaque, a stone that say "follow you heart" and 3 small house plants. The best part is I only spent $12.00.
The owner of the booth with all the concrete creations told me they could last all winter outside and not crack. To be honest, I'm gonna keep them in the house for part of my summer display. Their too cute to put in my yard.

Look What I Got

I got 300-12 inch stems of Sweet Annie in the mail today. This will be my first time working with it. I have never worked or owned Sweet Annie before. My first project I wanna make is carrots. I think the Sweet Annie tops look so adorable. This should be interesting because I really don't sew that much. I have made curtains and pillows before. Just the simple thing where all you have to do sew a a straight line. Well mine is semi straight....lol
I am also working on some other projects that I will post also tomorrow. I have been a busy the past couple of days. I cant wait to share everything with you. Until then...
