Pallet Ideas

I know one thing that I'm having hubby make with all those free pallets.
This adorable potting bench. When I saw it. It was love at first sight. We already tore all the pallets apart. It took hubby and my son a couple of hours to tear apart. He said it wasn't an easy job. He also told me he would start on it this week. Woo Hoo! I can't wait to put it on my deck. I am also planning on making a few hanging boxes and a couple of these caddies.
I think this caddy is so cute. Cant you just imagine some potted plants in it.
I will keep everyone updated on his progress.

Look What My Neighbor Gave Me.

He gave me a pile of I know its nothing fancy or anything but its FREE wood. You just have to love it when it's Free. Now comes the fun part, tearing them apart. Maybe I can convince my dear hubby and son to do that part for me.  I'll  keep you posted on what I decide to make with them.

Picture Frame Makeover

I was so excited when Lisa over at The Moonlit Stitch told me about this tutorial on using Krylon Mirror Like paint. She sent me a link from  Drakestone Primitives. I saw it and fell in love with it. It took me a while to find the paint. I couldn't find it for the life of me. I went to 5 different stores trying to find some. Even the Wal Mart in town and they even didn't have it. I ended up going to Wal Mart in another state to find it. I made sure to purchase 2 cans of it. Just in case I didn't make it back anytime soon.
Here is what I made with it.
I forgot to take a before picture but It was just a plain old picture frame.I bought it at the Salvation Army. I didn't even have to do anything to the frame. I liked it just how it was.
I gave it a home above my computer hutch for now. I did learn one thing about making the antique mirror look using water. If you want more antique looking mirror affect. Just spray your water a little heavier. I just misted mine on.  Thank you so much Lisa!

I also wanted to share a few pictures I took of some of my Easter decorations.

Messin Around...

No, Not that way.....LOL  I meant I was messing around with spanish moss. I have been looking for the right fillers for in my prim bowls I have been working on. Locating prairie grass in my area isnt an easy task.. I know you can buy it online but I wanted it NOW! Hhhhhmmmm.... Im starting to sound like Veruca on Willie Wonka and the Chocolate factory. So I sat in my craft room looking around to see what I could come up with. Then all of a sudden I saw it. A huge bag of spanish moss. but I wanted something that looked green.. Then I decided one way or another I was going to get it. Went to the laundry room closet and saw that I had some kelly green dye.
That right! I used Rit liquid dye to tint my moss. I soaked it in a tub of dye and hot water mixture.
The longer you let it sit. The darker it will come. After soaking my first batch for about 2 hours. I forgot I had it  I took it out and rinsed it with cold water until the water ran semi clear. I found using a colander was a lot easier than rinsing it by hand. Spread it out on some paper towels to absorb as much water as you can. After making sure you have most of the moisture out. Spread it out evenly on a cookie sheet lined with aluminum foil.
I forgot to mention that your should preheat your oven to 250°. I checked on it every 5 to 10 minutes. I just kept moving mine around on the cookie sheet to make sure it dried more evenly and it didn't burn.
After I took it out of the oven. I spread it out on a piece of newspaper to cool. Actually I used a Christmas Tree Shop ad.
Here are a  couple of pictures of the 2 shades of green I made. The first one I left soak for 2 hours and the 2nd one I left soaking for about 45 minutes. I really likd how they turned out. Now just use your imagination and think of all the colors you could do. I cant wait to do orange for Halloween. Orange grass in a black bowl is going to look sweet. Hopefully this will open a whole new outlet for creating.

Boy! Have I been busy....

Hey everyone, I didn't realize I have been gone for almost 2 weeks. Time really flies when your having fun. Well some of it was fun. Let me give you a little run down of what I have been up too. Last time I posted I was working on my tissue box dolls. Well I still have one to finish. I did find good homes for 2 of them. I gave them as gifts.
I made her a sweet bouquet of flowers to hold.
I made the flowers from muslin. The yellow and blue flowers I tinted using decorating chalk and the orange one, I just dyed some muslin orange and garnished it with a purple glass bead.  Unfortunately I didn't get a pic of the other one. I cant believe I forgot to get a  pic.Well actually yes I

Well in the process of sewing the dolls bonnets, I accidentally  sewed my finger instead. Yes, I said my finger.
It really wasn't that bad. Surprisingly it didn't really hurt until hubby started to clean it up for me. Unfortunately I broke the needle in my sewing machine and I didn't have any extra. So my sweet hubby actually went to Joann's for me and bought me some new sewing needles.  Wasn't that so sweet of him? After about 2 hours I was back to sewing.

I have also been working on making some pantry cakes out of wax.

Here I have some of them looking all pretty and primitive. I just love how they turned out and most of all how they smell.
Grunged up pineapples
more pantry cakes

and even more

choc bunny

choc eggs
I also made these cute chocolate looking bunnies and eggs out of wax that smells just like the real thing. They almost smell good enough to eat.

I have also been working one a new selling blog "Jager Hollow Primitives". Hopefully I'll have it up and running soon. Wish me
