~My Halloween/Fall Room~

If you all remember,I have been talking about doing my dining room in Fall/Halloween theme. Well I have a bit of a problem. The landlord wont let me strip the blue and pink wallpaper to paint the room a tan or cream color. I don't think orange, black purple and green will look good in there. So I have decided to redecorate my craft room in these colors. So I'm going to have a Halloween/Fall theme craft room.  I have already started to do a few things.
Before
For starters I dyed and redesigned my curtains.I  removed the valance and made them a little shorter. I wish they were a brighter tangerine. I should of used two packs of dye instead of one. I might  have to redye them.
After
I also painted the white shelf on the wall.
before
I decided to go with black and orange. I think I might add some white and walnut stain to soften it up a little. What do you think?
after
I 'm going to try to do a little something everyday.  This should be an interesting project. I can get pretty creative and I'm not afraid of color.
I'll keep everyone posted on what I  accomplish.
Have a great evening!

Whoa! The landlord won't let you strip blue and pink wallpaper to switch out to a tan or cream color???!!! What the hey??!! (And you're not really saying he would have actually let you do purple, green, black, or orange in there, are you??!) Shelf looks great - but I agree - softening it up with some stain might just be the ticket! Good luck on your "new" gameplan! Can't wait to see all you come up with! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

Patti, That shelf is screaming Halloween and Fall. It's just waiting for witches, black cats, punmpkins and such. Can't wait to see more of your decorating.

I love the Shelf, I did my old Craft room Halloween a few years ago... It was so cute. I love Halloween it is my fav holiday!

Maybe you could just use some fabric on the walls, put it up with some tacks or staples?? I don't know just thinging....

Thanks for sharing the shelf idea.

too bad they won't let you paint the walls a more pleasing neutral color..do they honestly think pink and blue are "in" colors..you would be doing them a favor...can't wait to see how your room turns out..you are off to a great start.:)

you could also take liquid starch and dip fabric in it and hang it on the walls like wall paper..it will come off easily and you can wash and reuse the fabric.;)

I like what you have done so far, I would use the stain to soften up the orange a bit. I am sure it will look nice. The rit can be tricky, I think it would be worth it to have used two~ I did two sets of curtains and I actually could do them both again! The dye can be funny~except the tan one, you have to use less to get the aged look with that one.
Good luck.
